How products are selected
Products are selected by looking at material class, product descriptions, brand claims, and available supporting evidence. The catalog prioritizes uncoated stainless steel, cast iron, carbon steel, glass, silicone, and other products where the material profile is easier to understand.
Some categories need extra caution. Nonstick cookware, waterproof textiles, stain-resistant finishes, dental floss, personal care, and coated paper products are reviewed more carefully because PFAS-related claims can be harder to verify from a retail listing alone.
TheUncoated is not a lab-testing service. When a product is included, the page explains the reason for inclusion and the type of evidence available, such as material-based selection or a brand claim.
